We Aren’t Consultants- And Here’s Why…

Consulting is a vast field, and the word itself carries with it very specific expectations.  Just like any other profession, there are some great consultants out there, and… there are bad ones too. Consulting, by it’s nature is a short-term engagement, and there’s no responsibility when it comes to the results. Drop in, give advice, cash the check, and out the door to the next one.

This is where things can go wrong. Some consultants will make recommendations without enough understanding of the client’s business. What they do understand is what the boss wants to hear. So, they give management the confirmation they were seeking all along. It’s a business transaction and nothing more. There are no lasting relationships or anything else beyond the project’s end.

When a company hires a consultant, they are paying for expertise and advice. However, if the advice is bad, then what? There are no repercussions and no accountability. CNN+ launch is a prime example of this problem. McKinsey & Company advised the news network to invest $300 million, and it was a complete failure. That’s OK though – McKinsey has already cashed their checks and has left for another client.

To be fair, this is a cherry-picked example, and there are other more supportive stories that can be told. The difference comes down to the person – the account manager on the job. Accountability is not baked into the consulting industry. And that’s the point.

Here at Omega Digital Solutions, we take a different approach, and our focus is to help our clients achieve success in their own industry. We removed the word consulting from our name and branding because advice without accountability is not the focus. Results matter. Our clients’ success is our top priority, and we’ll work tirelessly to ensure they receive the best possible outcome.

As a company, we are always looking for ways to help our clients move one step closer to their goals. Outcomes always outweigh billable hours.  That’s the right approach that brings success. Whether it’s a new piece of software or a different approach to project management, we want to bring our clients the best possible solutions. That’s our commitment to you, and it’s what drives us to continue finding new and better ways to help you reach your goals.
